Process Explorer von Sysinternals ist eine gelungene Freeware-Alternative für den betagten und rudimentären Windows-Taskmanager, der professionellen Ansprüchen schon längst nicht mehr genügt und zugunsten von Benutzerfreundlichkeit auf viele nützliche Funktionen, wie beispielsweise die Anzeige des Herstellers verzichtet.
Das Programm zeigt übersichtlich und schnell alle laufenden Prozesse in der Windows-typischen Baumansicht an. Mit einem Klick können detaillierte Informationen zum ausgewählten Prozess, wie zum Beispiel deren aktueller Zugriff auf Verzeichnisse, angezeigt werden. Im DLL-View-Mode werden die benutzten Libarys und deren ursprüngliche Herkunft angegeben.
